If you're interested in Canada’s regulatory environment and financial crimes, this is the role for you! The AML Operations team is responsible for detecting, responding to, and eliminating money laundering and terrorist financing risks at Wealthsimple.

In this role, you will learn and understand:

  • The types of money laundering and terrorist financing risks faced by Wealthsimple and what a risk-based approach entails.
  • Wealthsimple’s regulatory obligations, policies, and procedures to combat financial crimes.
  • How AML Operations reduces risk to Wealthsimple.
  • The due diligence process and related information sources.
  • The process for identifying and reporting suspicious client activity.
  • Opportunities to analyze and investigate alerts generated by standard policies, procedures, and tools, including:
  • Automated Transaction Monitoring
  • Cryptocurrency AML Ledger Screening
  • Name Screening against Adverse Media, PEP, Sanctions, and Terrorism Lists
  • Enhanced Due Diligence for High-Risk Clients and PEPs

We're looking for someone who has:

  • At least 1 year of experience in financial technology or a tech-driven financial services firm.
  • Experience in AML/CTF programs is a plus.
  • High precision and attention to detail.
  • Resourcefulness and persistence in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability to changing regulations and standards.
  • Ability to analyze datasets and identify patterns.
  • Ownership and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Passion for technology and eagerness to learn about AML industry.
