The Role

AMD designs leading-edge and state-of-the-art analog interfaces such as PCIe, USB, PLLs, etc., for PC environments and game consoles. Our team develops the tools and infrastructure needed to validate and characterize these interfaces.

The Person

A qualified candidate will have excellent knowledge of Electrical Engineering fundamentals and preferably experience in the semiconductor industry. They will also possess strong software development skills, preferably in Python, as well as excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Characterize and validate mixed-signal IP circuits for various leading-edge silicon technologies. IPs include PLL, DP, LVDS, TMDS, ADC, DAC, PCIe, HT, SATA, USB, DDR2/3/5, MIPI, and others.
  • Help automate laboratory tests through computer control/software development.
  • Develop characterization plans for IPs to be tested.
  • Execute characterization, collect and analyze data, and prepare final reports.
  • Prepare execution schedules and publish regular updates to design engineers.
  • Work closely with design teams on DFT (Design-For-Test) and characterization techniques.
  • Guide junior engineers and technologists on executing characterization plans.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors to understand leading-edge measurement techniques.
  • Continuously innovate to develop more efficient test techniques.

Preferred Experience

  • Good knowledge of analog circuits, RF, and signal integrity principles.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Understanding of semiconductor device specifications and parameters.
  • Familiarity with PC architecture.
  • Experience with board-level design and manufacturing.

Academic Credentials

BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
