Role Summary

We are seeking a Quality Control Inspector (AMPP CIP Level 2) to join our growing team. This is a hybrid role based in Surrey, British Columbia , with field work throughout the Lower Mainland and occasional remote flexibility.

Preference will be given to candidates who are currently residing in the Lower Mainland or nearby areas and are able to mobilize quickly to active project sites.

The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in coatings inspection, strong documentation practices, and the ability to work autonomously in dynamic environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site quality control inspections of industrial coatings per contract specifications, industry standards (e.g., SSPC, ASTM), and NCIS LOS protocols.
  • Document inspection results, including DFT, WFT, environmental conditions, surface profile, and cleanliness using digital reporting tools.
  • Ensure all surface preparation, coating application, and curing procedures comply with applicable standards and client requirements.
  • Communicate inspection findings clearly and professionally with contractors, project managers, and clients.
  • Support NCR documentation and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the QMS framework.
  • Maintain calibration, care, and issuance logs for assigned inspection tools (e.g., PosiTector, DPM, holiday detectors).
  • Assist in developing field-ready reports, inspection plans, and closeout documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of industrial coatings inspection experience , preferably in structural steel, marine, or infrastructure sectors
  • Strong knowledge of SSPC / NACE / ISO surface prep and coating standards
  • Familiarity with digital inspection platforms and reporting tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must be locally available to attend job sites in Surrey and surrounding areas
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to field environments (shops, yards, fabrication sites)
  • Proactive mindset aligned with NCIS’s Level of Service (LOS) principles
  • Preferred Skills

  • Experience with adhesion testing, holiday detection, and cure verification
  • Competence in reading technical drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with Quality workflows
  • Working knowledge of WorkSafeBC, WHMIS, and confined space protocols
