The Ammonia Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial refrigeration, with a primary focus on ammonia (NH₃) refrigeration systems. This role requires a certified professional with strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to deliver high‑quality service while maintaining excellent customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration and ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in refrigeration and Ammonia equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and system performance checks to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards, manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and safety regulations (including ammonia safety practices).
• Identify potential system improvements or required repairs and communicate recommendations clearly to clients and internal teams.
• Provide professional, timely, and courteous service while maintaining positive client relationships.
• Accurately complete service reports, maintenance logs, inspection records, and documentation of materials and parts used.
• Work independently in the field and collaborate effectively with other technicians, supervisors, and support staff.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in safe and working condition.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 3-5+ years of experience in Industrial refrigeration or Ammonia systems, preferably in industrial or commercial environments.
• Demonstrated experience working on ammonia (NH₃) refrigeration systems. Industries of cold storage, processing cooling, ice rinks, production cooling, etc.
• Qualification and experience with gas, oil, and burner systems is an asset but not mandatory.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem‑solving skills.
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
