The Work

The AML/ATF department within Compliance manages the Bank’s AML/ATF risks through effective controls. The AML Officer’s role includes conducting testing, monitoring, QA reviews, assessing transactions, reviewing STRs, and supporting business units. The environment is fast-paced, requiring effective time management.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct monitoring and testing of internal controls and QA reviews to ensure compliance with AML/ATF policies.
  • Consolidate data from various sources to analyze results and suggest improvements.
  • Identify AML/ATF risk trends and recommend targeted training areas.
  • Support the implementation and oversight of an effective AML/ATF program.
  • Assist in monitoring activities related to regulatory reports like STRs within deadlines.
  • Communicate with business units regarding AML/ATF policies and inquiries.
  • Provide independent reviews to ensure compliance issues are addressed appropriately.

About You

  • Post-secondary education in business or finance, with 3-5 years of AML compliance experience at a regulated Canadian financial institution.
  • Knowledge of AML/ATF regulations, risk management, and industry best practices.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including macros, v-lookups, and programming.
  • Ability to organize data and produce metric reports.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • AML designation (CAMS) preferred.
  • Experience with transaction alert adjudication and retail banking monitoring is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
