What is the opportunity?

As an Investigator (Canadian Banking), you will be an integral member of the AML Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Investigations team. Your role involves planning, conducting, and completing risk-based investigations into matters referred to the Unit. By gathering, analyzing, and evaluating relevant information, you will determine if there is sufficient suspicion of money laundering, terrorism financing, or other criminal activities to report to the Regulatory Authority. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements and mitigating RBC's risks in line with company policies.

What will you do?

  • Plan, conduct, and complete investigations into media scans, transaction monitoring, and Unusual Transaction Reporting from internal partners
  • Maintain accurate records of investigative actions and decisions
  • Handle all information in accordance with legal, regulatory, and RBC policies
  • Gather intelligence from all sources to assess suspicion levels of criminal activities
  • Prepare reports and documentation supporting investigation outcomes
  • Adhere to RBC’s policies on conduct, development, equal opportunities, safety, data protection, and information security
  • Collaborate with the Global AML-FIU Investigation Team and other partners to ensure timely and compliant investigations

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • AML experience in Canadian banking
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills with creative thinking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of simplifying complex information
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Criminology or Criminal Justice Studies

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with major RBC business segments
  • ACAMS Certification
