Job Description

The America’s Senior Payroll manager will oversee the payroll operations within North America and Latin America with a focus on ensuring compliance with all US, Canada and Latin America payroll laws and regulations. This role will be responsible for day-to-day oversight for the Americas while working directly with the Global Payroll Director on implementing Global payroll strategies with a focus on streamlined HR automation and optimizing payroll systems and processes to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees. This role will be responsible for managing a decentralized remote payroll team around the Americas while driving and supporting key HR initiatives and collaboration with peers in EMEA and APAC on standardizing processes to ensure accuracy and compliance, by streamlining/optimizing technologies and vendors. The role will partner closely with HR Operations, Finance, IT, and other cross-functional leaders.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the Americas payroll function, ensuring efficient and compliant payroll operations across all regions.
  • Manage and mentor a team of payroll professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure continuous development and training of the payroll team to maintain high levels of expertise and performance.
  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for US, Canada, and various Latin America countries by ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant US, Canada and Latin America payroll regulations.
  • Manage relationships with payroll vendors and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of payroll systems and processes.
  • Work closely with our HRIT team on systems enhancements to drive efficiency in HR Operations, and compliance.

Employee Experience & Support:

  • Ensure employees receive timely and accurate payroll-related communications.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex payroll issues, working with internal stakeholders to resolve them.
  • Oversee payroll inquiries, providing high-quality service through internal help desks or HR shared services.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure payroll operations comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including global tax and labor laws.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to mitigate risks and ensure the integrity of payroll data.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate payroll audits.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Implement and leverage technology to streamline payroll operations and improve the employee experience.
  • Drive payroll-related projects, including system implementations, integrations, and policy changes.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless payroll operations and integration with other systems.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on payroll operations and addressing any concerns or issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in payroll management, with time in a leadership role within global payroll operations.
  • Broad experience overseeing full cycle payroll processing for US, Canada and Latam which includes data collection, gross to net calculations, reconciliations, etc.
  • Strong project management experience including the ability to manage project plans, dependencies, critical path activities, and milestones.
  • In-depth knowledge of global payroll practices, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems, with experience in implementing and optimizing payroll technologies.
  • Expertise in leading or supporting special tasks and projects as needed (HR system integration and support implementations, etc.).
  • Strong background in Workday’s HR Applications.
  • Strong background in ADP’s Workforce Now model.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Workday HR and Payroll.
  • Experience with Workday Payroll Implementations.
  • Experience working in a multinational corporation.
  • Bi-lingual skills (Spanish).

Additional Information

  • This is a regular full-time position.
  • This is a remote role in the U.S. or Canada.
  • Compensation: $124,300 - $204,200 in the U.S. and $100,600 - $155,100 in CAD. Individual salaries are based on education, geographic location, and alignment to the market data.
