Qualifications

As an Amenity Attendant, you will use your strong interpersonal and decision-making skills to ensure citizens enjoy our indoor Aquatic Facilities in a safe manner. You will succeed in this position if you can perform all tasks in a respectful, inclusive, and service-minded way.

What will you do?

  • Greet patrons in a friendly and respectful way
  • Ensure appropriate behaviour and use of all equipment, such as slides and diving boards
  • Ensure the safety of all patrons using facility amenities
  • Ensure patrons are obeying rules and general facility guidelines
  • Assist lifeguards in crowd control and marking arms
  • Assist lifeguards with opening and closing of the amenities
  • Control the movement of patrons in and out of the pavilions/dressing rooms
  • Clean touch points as required
  • Maintain statistics and administrative tasks including timesheets
  • Act as a customer service representative on site
  • Assist staff in emergency response as directed
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 14 years of age; 15 years and older may be required depending on the facility

Skills required for success:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle difficult situations
  • Ability to perform the sustained and repetitive tasks related to the role, such as being upright for long periods of time
  • Ability to effectively communicate and provide direction to facility users
  • Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies
  • Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation, and inclusion
  • Ability to swim 25m comfortably

Assets:

  • Experience working in a swimming pool environment and/or in a customer service role serving the public
  • Ability to communicate in a second language

Conditions of employment:

  • Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C certification
  • Hire is dependent on Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Up to 20 temporary part-time ongoing positions

Hours of Work: Up to 8 hour shifts per day, up to 29.5 hours per week. Evening and weekend work is required.
