Description

As the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Crew Chief, you will be responsible for providing direction and supervision to AMEs and Apprentices to ensure the maintenance crew performs activities as planned in conjunction with the Maintenance Controller. You will also perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft listed in the Summit Air Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) and carry out certification of the aircraft for flight (maintenance release).

Responsibilities

1. Plan, direct, and oversee maintenance activities, ensuring safety compliance and promoting a respectful working environment.
2. Lead and mentor apprentices and mechanics, conducting performance reviews and ensuring compliance with maintenance alerts and memos.
3. Communicate with maintenance, flight crew, and dispatch teams as required.
4. Perform maintenance in accordance with airworthiness standards, ensuring paperwork is complete and accurate.
5. Identify and report Service Difficulty Report (SDR) situations.
6. Troubleshoot systems and conduct hangar clean-up.
7. Carry out aircraft maintenance releases as authorized by the Aircraft Certification Authority (ACA).
8. Travel with aircraft and crew if assigned away from base.
9. Act as temporary Maintenance Controller if instructed.

Qualifications

1. Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed AME, preferably with larger aircraft.
2. Possess Transport Canada AME M or E license, or a combination, with the ability to hold ACA.
3. Hold necessary endorsements for aircraft types worked on.
4. Experience with ATR42/72, DHC-8, BAE146, RJ85/100, D228 aircraft is an asset.
5. Ability to supervise and train AMEs and apprentices.
6. Attention to detail, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
7. Strong decision-making, time management, and computer skills.
8. Excellent communication skills and ability to foster a positive work culture.

Working Conditions

• Night and day shifts, 14 days on/off, 5pm-5am/5am-5pm.
• Based in Montreal.
