Job Description

This role focuses on the herd of currently 500 high yielding Holstein/Friesian cows.

Milking currently through a 20:40 DTL parlour, with ADF, Heat Time, Auto Shedding and comprehensive handling facilities.Calving in an autumn/winter block, the cows are housed in recently constructed first class conditions throughout and have yields in excess of 10,000 litres per cow.

This position can develop as the unit develops. A 60-point rotary parlour is currently under construction with full supporting facilities and expansion into the sand bed cubicle housing as the unit grows to a 700-cow unit.

FACT SHEET

Location: The business is situated 8 miles inland of Eastbourne, and 3 miles from the market town of Hailsham. In Hailsham and the local village of Upper Dicker, there are a good selection of primary and secondary schools, shops, and facilities.

The Dairy Unit: The herd will be milked for their last winter in a 20:40 parlour with ADF and auto shedding within the handling facilities for AI, foot trimming etc. The unit is well laid out and all milking and dry cows are housed on sand-based cubicles. The herd are housed in new sand cubicle accommodation. All youngstock are removed from the unit at 48 hours of age to the farm’s off lying youngstock unit.

The Dairy Herd:Autumn calving from early August through to November. The 500-cow herd yields in excess of 10,000 litres on twice a day milking. The cows are complete diet fed on a ration of maize and grass silage with additional straights, no feeding in the parlour.

The Farm: Primrose and Parkwood Farms are amalgamated to form a 500-acre intensive dairy farm. Approximately 200 acres of maize and 300 acres of grassland are cropped. In addition, there is an equestrian enterprise, farm trail and let shooting and fishing. It is anticipated that the farm will qualify for entry level stewardship this year.

The Accommodation: The farm will provide an excellent standard of accommodation with a bungalow on the farm in a beautiful spot, this will be available free from rent, rates, and council tax.

Remuneration: Depending on age and experience.

Time Off: 104-days per contract year.
