SIGMA DESIGN has collaborated with a local industrial company seeking experienced Aluminum Welders to join their facility in Vancouver, Washington. This company works on projects for the Aerospace, Defense, Energy, and Infrastructure Industries.

Primary Function

The Welder is responsible for fabrication welding, including manual, semi-automatic, automatic, and all-position welding, as well as using oxygen/acetylene gas torch for cutting or pre-heating.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities
  • Utilize knowledge of weld electrodes and wire, machine settings, and maintain quality and quantity standards; use oxygen/acetylene gas torch for cutting or pre-heating.
  • Read and interpret drawings, sketches, and weld symbols; set up and operate semi-automatic or automatic welding equipment.
  • Assemble and tack parts as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
  • Welder I: Minimum five to seven years of welding/fabrication experience or completion of an apprentice program.
  • Welder II: Minimum of two years of welding/fabrication experience or completion of an apprentice program.
  • Welder III: Minimum of one year of welding/fabrication experience or completion of an apprentice program.
  • Capable of passing a 3G, 4G Aluminum weld test on 3/8 plate to AWS D1.2 weld standards.
  • Able to consistently pass UT/RT/PT weld joints.
  • Compliance: Drug Screen, Background Check, ITAR.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and carry 60 lbs. or maneuver objects; heavy objects will be lifted with mechanical assistance or additional workers.
  • Must be able to lift a 4 ft., 60 lb. spool of wire and load welding machines.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
  • Capable of working from ladders and scaffolding.
Work Environment

SHOP: Standard machine shop environment with various machinery. Proper safety gear (PPE) must be worn. Ability to stand and work up to 12 hours in different positions. May be exposed to noise, welding gases, fumes, and weather conditions. Protective equipment will be provided as necessary.
