AltaGas - Sr Advisor, EHS - Trucking

Position Summary

AltaGas is seeking a Sr. EHS Advisor to provide EHS support to protect workers across Trucking (Petrogas Logistics Partnership) and Enerchem sites. The ideal candidate will possess strong collaboration skills to work seamlessly with multiple teams and departments.

You Will:
  1. Evaluate the status of, and oversee the compliance to EHS standards, codes, regulations and policies through inspections, evaluations, audits and monitoring.
  2. Support the Team Lead, EHS – Trucking & Logistics in providing strong leadership to Trucking and Enerchem businesses and aligning to the Midstream Operating Management System (OMS).
  3. Participate in after hours on call availability and assist in emergency response and remediation activities, as required.
  4. Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective and preventive actions. Drive a culture of learning from incidents to prevent future occurrences.
  5. Support Trucking / Enerchem completing hazard identification and implementation of corrective actions.
  6. Effectively communicate EHS goals, expectations, and updates to employees at all levels. Promote engagement and awareness of safety and environmental responsibilities.
  7. Manage and monitor the effectiveness of the Emergency Response Program ensuring the program is robust and meets regulatory requirements.
  8. Manage Incident and Injury Management processes, ensuring incidents are adequately reported, investigated and followed up.
  9. Work with HRPB to ensure injured workers are looked after.
  10. Respond to and investigate environmental health and safety concerns of individuals and recommend corrective action to Management.
  11. Maintain necessary documentation to demonstrate regulatory compliance and responsible actions in health safety and environmental activities.
  12. Provide and maintain scheduled statistical safety data and programs (ISN, Complyworks, Intelex).
  13. Conduct new hire (driver) orientations and competency checks, as required.
  14. Develop and facilitate regular EHS meetings.
  15. Travel to field locations and customer facilities to engage with drivers, dispatch, transportation leadership and EHS personnel (minimum 25%).
You Have:
  1. Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) designation, Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline required.
  2. Experience with TapRooT or other similar root cause analysis process would be beneficial.
  3. Strong leadership skills and ability to influence people, often without direct authority.
  4. 5-7 years of EHS experience, preferably within the transportation of dangerous goods industry.
  5. Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  6. Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices in EHS and trucking.
  7. Strong work ethic and a bias for action, setting challenging goals and taking personal pride in your own performance and that of the group.
  8. Be in or near the Sundre, AB area.
