AltaGas - Senior Manager, Project Engineering

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Project Engineering to bring clarity, consistency, and mentorship to a high-performing team navigating a fast-paced and evolving project environment.

In this role, you’ll be the technical anchor for a team of engineers and project leaders, driving engineering excellence across a diverse portfolio of projects . Reporting directly to our VP of Projects, you’ ll lea d the development and implementation of scalable engineering practices, by mentor ing and developing a team of 10+ and collaborat ing closely with senior leadership to align engineering execution with business goals.

You’ll help foster a more sustainable team environment, introduce greater structure and clarity to a fast-moving development space, and ensure that engineering decisions remain pragmatic, consistent, and aligned with business goals. What You’ll Do:

Driving Consistency in Engineering Practice

  • Championing consistent engineering processes, documentation, and onboarding across all project phases to support scalability and efficiency
  • Leading engineering assurance reviews and s igning off on technical decisions throughout the Midstream stage gate model
  • Training and mentoring engineers in design evaluations, vendor strategies, and centrally developed documentation
  • Managingcentrally housed engineering documentation in alignment with the Project Delivery Model

Shaping Strong, Practical Technical Foundations

  • Guiding engineers and development leaders in conceptualizing technical solutions aligned with commercial and operational goals
  • Offering real-time mentorship and technical input to shape direction and decision-making during early project stages
  • Promoting full-lifecycle engagement for development engineers to build broad technical insight and continuity

Aligning Engineering with Organizational Priorities

  • Acting as the senior engineering authority within Midstream Projects and stewarding AltaGas’s Professional Practice Management Plan
  • Collaborating with technical leadership to maintain cohesive standards and expectations across functions
  • Embedding technical lessons learned into future project planning with input from SMEs and Operations

Planning and Developing a High-Performing Engineering Team

  • Forecasting and allocating engineering resources, while leading hiring and assignments across development and execution
  • Evaluating vendor performance and monitoring industry trends to maintain top-tier technical partnerships
  • Designing and delivering targeted development opportunities that support long-term engineering capability within the team

Who We’re Looking For:

  • A d riven, results-oriented individual who naturally takes responsibility for setting the standard and achieving results.
  • At least 15 years of experience in engineering and project execution within the natural gas, liquids handling or midstream infrastruc ture sector with demonstrated leadership over technical teams, engineering programs and projects
  • P.Eng. designation registered with APEGA and/or EGBC (or eligibility) required ; PMP is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with current codes (ABSA, ASME, CSA, API, NACE, etc.), acts and regulations.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills
