AltaGas - Senior Analyst, Position Management - Crude & Condensate

As part of AltaGas’ Commercial team, the Sr. Analyst, Position Management – Crude & Condensate plays a central role in managing the trade lifecycle of physical and financial positions. This role blends advanced analytics with nuanced business insight to ensure commercial decisions are backed by accurate, timely data and strategic modeling.

You’ll strengthen transparency and alignment across Crude Marketing, Risk, and Accounting by delivering actionable analysis, maintaining core models, and providing cross-functional consultation. Your depth of knowledge in Canadian upstream and midstream market conventions will be key to interpreting complex inputs and refining financial insights with precision.

You will:

  • Oversee physical and financial crude & condensate positions in Allegro, ensuring planned, forecasted, nominated, and actual volumes are reconciled daily
  • Maintain and interpret crude-specific P&L models, validating exposure, pricing, hedging, and settlement data
  • Execute and validate accurate trade entry within Allegro to support downstream reporting and settlement processes
  • Create and support dashboards and analytical tools using Power BI, Power Query, and Excel
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Accounting teams to ensure readiness for settlement
  • Drive improvements in trade capture, system outputs, and crude contract verification
  • Act as a liaison between Front, Middle, and Back Offices to ensure commercial deals are structured and reported strategically
  • Provide consultation and insights on financial results, and support daily EOD risk processes

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in the oil & gas energy industry, with a focus on crude oil or midstream operations
  • Deep understanding of Canadian upstream and midstream markets, including commercial conventions and market dynamics
  • Knowledge of crude blending fundamentals and economics considered an asset
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Power Query
  • Expertise in Allegro or other ETRM/CTRM systems
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Python, and Microsoft Fabric considered an asset
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills across technical and commercial teams
  • Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environments with multiple priorities
