Job summary

AltaGas Ltd. seeks a Panel Control Operator to join the REEF Terminal Operations team in Prince Rupert, BC. The role supports CSU and RFO activities in field and control room, operating the DeltaV DCS to manage propane and butane flows through chilling processes into LPG storage and VLGC vessel loading.

You will lead a team of Plant and Rail Operators, uphold AltaGas’ safety culture, and ensure procedures align with EH&S standards. 7 on/7 off schedule rotates between days and nights.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5+ years of Gas Plant or Terminal Operations with leadership in control room operations.
• 2+ years of control room experience, preferably with DeltaV.
• Experience in facility start-up and commissioning.
• 4th Class Power Engineering certification is required.
• Strong training and development mindset.
• Proficiency with Windows-based applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with EHS/PSM systems such as Maximo and Intelex is a plus.

AltaGas - Panel Control Operator, REEF

AltaGas is seeking a Panel Control Operator to join our REEF Terminal Operations team. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will support commissioning and startup (CSU) as well as ready-for-operations (RFO) activities both in the field and in the control room. Following startup, you will operate REEF from a DeltaV DCS control console, managing the flow of propane and butane from railcars through chilling processes into LPG storage and VLGC vessel loading operations.

Your primary focus will be ensuring all work aligns with AltaGas’ Core Values: safety, collaboration, integrity, inclusion, and learning. This role requires a strong safety mindset and a forward-looking, technical approach to leading a team of Plant and Rail Operators, in coordination with the Shift Supervisor and Senior Management, while maintaining compliance with operational procedures and meeting customer expectations.

This is a full-time position based in Prince Rupert, BC. It is not camp-based. The schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off, rotating between day and night shifts.

You will:

• Champion personal safety leadership in accordance with AltaGas’ Environment, Health and Safety Program.
• Ensure compliance with AltaGas policies, standards, and procedures during all operational activities.
• Develop and execute operational procedures, lock-out/tag-out packages, and support Operational Plan development with the Shift Supervisor and Operations, Maintenance & Project (OMP) Coordinator.
• Operate the DeltaV DCS system with proficiency and competency.
• Monitor CCTV PTZ security cameras to maintain situational awareness.
• Liaise with external stakeholders.
• Demonstrate proficiency with UHF/VHF radios.
• Lead and support incident reporting and investigations, including analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain facility housekeeping standards.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the training program.
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained, routine shift maintenance is completed, and additional work orders are entered in Maximo.
• Lead and support team efforts in equipment lockout/tagout, ensuring proper isolation for maintenance.
• Participate in Joint Occupational Health & Safety meetings.

You have:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of experience in Gas Plant or Terminal Operations, with demonstrated leadership in control room operations.
• Minimum 2 years of control room experience, preferably with DeltaV (other systems considered).
• Previous experience in facility start-up and commissioning.
• 4th Class Power Engineering certification required.
• Strong passion for team training and development.
• Proficiency in Windows-based applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with EHS and PSM systems such as Maximo and Intelex is an asset.
• Strong time management and decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional organizational skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.

Compensation:

This position offers a base salary range of $115,000 to $130,000 annually, based on experience, education, and skills. AltaGas also provides a competitive relocation allowance and a comprehensive benefits package, including health coverage, retirement plans, and paid time off starting on day one.
