AltaGas - Operations Summer Student (Pipestone)

We are currently seeking a Summer Student for a four-month term to work at our Pipestone Facility located near Grande Prairie, AB. AltaGas offers unique career development opportunities for students with ambitious goals to progress in their careers and an enthusiasm to learn about our business.

This is a four-month temporary position from May through August 2025.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performing parts runs and delivery services.
  • Painting – buildings, process piping, etc.
  • Reclamation of contaminated soil.
  • Some office duties, such as updating MSDS binders, office organization, etc.
  • Organizing the warehouse and stocking shelving.
  • Assisting in maintaining a safe worksite such as general site cleanup and disposal.
  • Grass cutting and weed whipping.
  • Other general operational support duties.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Enrolled in a post-secondary or other educational institution and returning in Fall 2025.
  • A positive attitude with a desire to learn.
  • Self-starter, with a proactive approach.
  • Familiarity with oil and gas terminology is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.

This is a safety-sensitive position. The successful candidate must complete a post-offer background check, in addition to alcohol and drug testing.

Where You'll Work:

Owned and operated by AltaGas, Pipestone is a high-quality operational sour deep-cut natural gas facility with 110 Mmcf/d of processing capacity and 20,000 Bbls/d of liquids handling capacity located in the heart of the Alberta Montney. The facility includes 67 km of natural gas gathering pipelines that are tied into key production regions and provides strategic egress connections to the NGTL and the Alliance pipeline systems.

The facility also includes the Pipestone condensate truck-in/truck-out terminal for liquids handling and value maximization. AltaGas also has 33 MW of co-generation capacity at Pipestone. The co-generation facility has a waste heat recovery unit that is capable of producing the process heat required to process gas at Pipestone.
