Job summary

BWXT Canada Ltd. in Cambridge, Ontario is hiring an All Position Welder to perform welding in all positions for company products. The role requires reading drawings, interpreting welding procedures, and setting up equipment to meet quality standards.

Candidates must complete an intermediate welding program and pass pre-hire weld tests (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW). Safe work practices and ability to work across shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an intermediate welding program.
• Must pass pre-hire weld tests: GTAW 3/8" plate, GMAW 2G horizontal 3/8", SMAW 3G vertical 3/8".

Responsibilities

All Position Welder

We have an opportunity for you to join our production team as an All PositionWelder at our Cambridge, Ontario facility.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

To perform all types of manual welding in all position on company products to quality standards and perform fitting operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform all position welding on company products to quality standards. Such welds are not subject to RT and UT inspection.
• Read and interpret Production Orders, Drawings, Shop Instruction Sheet (SIS), Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Set up jigs and holding devices as required, positions as required.
• Identify and verify workpiece material.
• All types of semi-automatic gas and electric welding power sources for the purposes of manual welding, arc air and, cleaning tools, shields, safety equipment, welding fixtures.
• Perform overhead crane lifts to maintain their own production requirements, marking equipment.
• Communicate openly with the team members and shop management.
• Work in a safe manner, complying with all health, safety and environmental guidelines/regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Understand and adhere to quality requirements and productivity expectations.
• Successful completion of an intermediate welding program.
• Must be able to pass the following pre-hire weld tests:
  • 3/8" plate test. Process is Manual GTAW. Bend test examination.
  • 2G Horizontal 3/8" plate test. Process is GMAW. Bend test examination.
  • 3G Vertical 3/8" plate test. Process is Manual SMAW. Bend test examination.
• For pre-hire weld test: Must bring own CSA-approved safety boots, helmet, gloves and safety glasses.
• Ability to read and understand/interpret drawings, specifications, operating procedures, work orders, etc.
• Basic level blueprint reading skills.
• Must be comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights and in awkward positions.
• Ability to pass fit-testing for the wearing of a respirator, as required.
• Available to work all shifts:
  • Weekdays (Mon-Thurs)
  • Days: 6:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Nights: 4:00 pm. - 2:00 am
  • Days: 6:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Nights: 5:00 p.m. - 4:00 a.m
