Job description

The Aldergrove Star has an opening for a full-time Multimedia Editor/Journalist.

The successful candidate will be joining Black Press Media, a division of Carpenter Media Group, to generate news content for highly competitive and expanding digital platforms, as well as our longstanding print editions.

The Star is driven by a multimedia, digital-first mandate, publishing stories in print and online.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding writing skills and a clear knowledge of CP Style and grammar
  • Demonstrated ability to cover breaking news in an online environment
  • Advanced knowledge of photography and video shooting and editing
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Willingness to take direction and constructive criticism well
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Eagerness to pitch original story ideas on a regular basis
  • Desire to work as a member of a team and an ability to foster relationships with coworkers and members of the community

The successful candidate will be responsible for writing stories on all facets of this thriving Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley community, covering everything from news and sports to arts and life for our once-a-week newspaper, including our website.

Applicants must hold a journalism degree or diploma. Videography and editing is an asset.
