Overview / Description
The Safety Supervisor safely and efficiently leads and coordinates the efforts of ramp personnel and ensures the timely delivery of all services for airlines as contracted. The Ramp Supervisor takes accountability for safety, operation standards, training, and policy implementation.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and coordinates daily activities of employees to ensure safe and effective operations.
- Monitors and enforces safe working habits, Unifi policies and safety procedures, and all applicable laws.
- Enforces Company policies and procedures, including disciplinary action, and promotes Unifi policies on Equal Employment Opportunity, Professional Conduct, and diversity initiatives and investigates and responds to employee relations issues in a timely manner.
- Communicates with Manager concerning any problems or issues.
- Schedules and conducts shift meetings, observations.
- Performs job duties of assigned shift (i.e., ramp, cabin service, cargo, baggage, passenger service).
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.
Qualifications For Safety Supervisor
- Able to work in extreme conditions, such as hot and cold weather, as well as small spaces
- Eligible to receive appropriate security clearances after satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
- Familiarity with basic computer programs to assist with record-keeping and baggage routing
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Flexible schedule allowing work during nights, weekends, and holidays. Some shifts may require extended hours to meet business needs.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and move items up to 70 pounds or more on a regular basis.
- Must be able to observe, judge distances, identify surroundings, hazards, aircrafts and equipment.
- Must be able to communicate by radio and other devices.
Experience
- One+ year of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Able to communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment.
- Able to communicate effectively in a professional manner.
