About The Role
Reporting: The Aircraft Structures Engineer IV - Authorized Person reports to the Director of Engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Certify structural modifications to Part 23/25/27/29 aircraft and components.
- Determine compliance with structural certification standards within Transport Canada scope.
- Design alterations to aircraft structures, systems, and furnishings.
- Analyze structures using hand calculations, finite element, fatigue, and damage tolerance methods.
- Review and approve design and engineering documents.
- Conduct Engineering Conformity Inspections.
- Witness certification testing.
- Maintain all certification-related documentation per company procedures.
- Liaise with Transport Canada and foreign CAA as needed.
- Support other departments like MRO, Avionics, Sales, Manufacturing, and Customer Support.
- Mentor junior staff in design and engineering skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

Qualifications
- Current or recent TC airworthiness delegation (AP or DAR) eligible for Structures AP within Avmax DAO.
- Bachelor’s in aerospace or mechanical engineering (or acceptable alternative).
- Advanced degrees are a plus.
- Proficiency in aircraft certification procedures and structural systems.
- Familiarity with FAR Part 23, 25, 27, 29 aircraft.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office, CAD (AutoCAD/SolidWorks), FEMAP, or ANSYS.
- Willing to travel as needed.
- Effective English communication skills.
Experience
- At least 2 years as a Transport Canada delegated person.
- Minimum 10 years in aircraft certification related to structural repairs/modifications.
- At least 12 years in design and analysis of transport aircraft structures.
- Experience with fuselage penetrations, interior modifications, flammability, and structural integration.
- Proficient in engineering software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, FEMAP, etc.).
- Experience in aircraft maintenance or fabrication is an asset.
