Job summary

Calm Air is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Structures Apprentice to maintain and repair aircraft components. This role involves hands-on work, performing both structural repairs and inspections in various locations across Manitoba and Nunavut. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

What You'll Get to Do
Reporting directly to the Base Engineer and taking direction from the on-shift Crew Chief, an (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Structures) maintains, inspects, and repairs primarily structure related components on an aircraft. They may also be required to assist in performing line maintenance.

  • Perform sheet metal activities on various aircraft and project undertaken at Calm Air Facilities
  • Perform structural repairs in accordance with company procedures
  • Manufacture, modify, and repair sheet metal and composite structures
  • Perform component overhaul and repair within the structures shops rated capabilities
  • Follow all procedures necessary for maintenance or repairs to the aircraft and equipment
  • Ensure all work carried out is properly documented in accordance with the procedures manual
  • Must always comply with all safety regulations
  • Maintain all Calm Air assigned training required within job role
  • Ensure that all items of work are listed, recorded, and signed out on the appropriate task card
  • Perform work procedures, while ensuring that approved methods and materials are used in a safe, efficient, and economical manner
  • Travel to remote locations as needed to perform structural repairs in the field
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Hours of Work

  • Shift work is required and may include mornings/afternoons, evenings, nights, and weekends

Skills & Experience We Value

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) an asset
  • Must have ability to Interpret blueprints/specifications/standards and written technical instructions
  • Knowledge of an airline’s operations an asset
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team setting
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Travel may be required
  • Ability to lift 75lbs
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance qualification
  • Must comply with and maintain current Transport Canada COVID-19 requirements
  • Inuktitut language considered an asset
  • Preference given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
