Job description

WAAS Aerospace Inc. has been in operation since 2014 and is a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO). We operate from facilities located on the South Shore of Montreal at MET Montreal Metropolitan Airport (CYHU) and in Quebec City at Jean Lesage International Airport (CYQB).

We provide scheduled and line maintenance services, avionics modifications, and research and development services for business aircraft and large carriers. We offer 24/7 Aircraft on Ground (AOG) services to help customers meet their on-time departure obligations and minimize downtime.

Our parent company, Chrono Aviation, was founded in Quebec City in 2012. At its inception, the company operated a single Pilatus PC-12 and employed two pilots. Today, the Chrono Aviation Group boasts a fleet of 15 aircraft and a team of 250 employees.

Role and context

The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Avionics is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic systems on aircraft. They ensure that avionics equipment complies with current safety and airworthiness standards. Working within our maintenance department, they collaborate with other engineers and technicians to maintain the reliability and performance of aircraft used for passenger and cargo transport.

Key responsibilities
  1. Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic malfunctions on aircraft.
  2. Conduct functional tests and preventive inspections on avionics equipment.
  3. Update and configure software for embedded systems.
  4. Read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics for repairs and modifications.
  5. Prepare technical reports and document maintenance interventions according to regulatory requirements.
  6. Ensure compliance with Transport Canada standards and other regulatory bodies.
  7. Work collaboratively with other maintenance teams to ensure aircraft safety and reliability.
  8. Maintain a safe work environment by following safety protocols and established procedures.
  9. Provide technical support during inspections and regulatory audits.
Specific job requirements
  1. College diploma (DEC) in avionics or aircraft maintenance with a specialization in avionics.
  2. Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license – Category "E" (Avionics) issued by Transport Canada.
  3. Knowledge of Transport Canada regulations and airworthiness standards.
  4. At least 2 years of experience in avionics maintenance and repair.
  5. Experience with communication, navigation, and flight management systems.
  6. Ability to read and interpret avionics technical schematics and manuals.
  7. Experience with avionics diagnostic and testing tools.
