Job summary

PAL Technical Services, the maintenance division of PAL Group of Companies, seeks an Aircraft Maintenance Auditor in St. John's, NL, to provide independent oversight of maintenance operations, technical records, airworthiness programs, and quality systems to ensure CAR, SMS, and QMS compliance.

You will support Transport Canada inspections, audits of suppliers and contracted maintenance providers, and drive continuous improvement.

PAL Technical Services is a leader in full-service aircraft maintenance, providing a comprehensive range of aviation services including aircraft modifications, line maintenance, maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO), and engineering support. As the maintenance division of the PAL Group of Companies, we support both domestic and international operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

We are currently seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Auditor to join our team in St. John's, NL.

In this role, you will provide independent oversight of maintenance operations, technical records, airworthiness programs, and quality systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company procedures, and industry standards. You will play a key role in supporting our Safety Management System (SMS), Quality Management System (QMS), and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

What You'll Do
Audit & Compliance
  • Conduct audits of aircraft maintenance operations, airworthiness activities, maintenance planning, technical records, supply chain, stores, and maintenance control functions.
  • Assess compliance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), company manuals, SMS requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Monitor ongoing compliance with Transport Canada requirements and organizational procedures.
  • Support regulatory inspections, certification audits, and customer oversight activities.
Audit Reporting & Corrective Actions
  • Prepare detailed audit reports and document findings, observations, and non-conformances.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action development.
  • Track corrective actions through to completion and verify effectiveness.
Continuous Improvement & Risk Management
  • Identify quality, safety, and airworthiness risks.
  • Analyze trends and recurring audit findings.
  • Recommend improvements that enhance compliance, operational effectiveness, and overall system performance.
  • Conduct supplier and vendor audits.
  • Assess contracted maintenance providers for regulatory and contractual compliance.
  • Evaluate supplier quality systems and corrective action effectiveness.
Records & Documentation Review
  • Review maintenance records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
  • Verify compliance with document control and record retention requirements.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Aviation Maintenance, Aerospace, Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of aviation maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs)
    • Continuing Airworthiness requirements
    • Maintenance Control Systems
    • Safety Management Systems (SMS)
    • Quality Management Systems (QMS)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licence.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in quality assurance, auditing, regulatory compliance, airworthiness, or maintenance management.
  • AS9110, ISO 9001, Internal Auditor, or Lead Auditor certification.
  • SMS Auditor Training.
  • Human Factors Training.
  • Experience working within a Transport Canada-regulated environment.
  • Strong analytical and investigative abilities.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action management experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining auditor objectivity.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Working Conditions
  • Travel to maintenance bases, hangars, operational facilities, and supplier locations will be required.
  • Combination of office, hangar, and field-based work environments.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work to support audits, inspections, and operational requirements.
