Job summary

Government of Manitoba is seeking qualified candidates for two Air Attack Officer positions based in Winnipeg, MB. The role directs aerial wildfire suppression operations, coordinating air tanker groups and helicopters to support wildfire response.

The incumbents work a 10-on/4-off shift during fire season (April–October), transitioning to Monday–Friday in winter, with 40 hours per week and overtime as required. Eligibility and equity goals apply.

Qualifications

• Diploma in an approved Natural Resource Management program or equivalent.
• Extensive wildfire operations experience including as Helitac Officer or Incident Commander 3 or equivalent.
• Supervisory/leadership experience with training and mentoring staff.
• Strong stress management, decision-making and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates aerial wildfire suppression operations.
• Deploys aviation resources including air tankers and helicopters.
• Assesses fire behaviour and hazards; directs aerial suppression tactics.
• Ensures aviation safety regulations compliance and training.
