Job summary

Boardy is seeking an AI Software Engineer in Toronto to join a small, high-impact team. The stack is TypeScript and Python with cutting-edge LLMs, focusing on autonomous AI agents rather than CRUD apps. You’ll influence product and tech decisions from day one, shifting Boardy’s technical direction in a fast-growing startup.

We operate with a 5-day in-office policy at our Liberty Village WeWork, collaborating closely in person to build the next generation of AI-powered professional networking.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of software engineering focused on ML systems (internships ok).
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs and external platforms.
• Experience with large language models; fine-tuning is a bonus.
• Experience with vector databases and search tech (Qdrant, Pinecone, Weaviate, Elasticsearch).
• Experience designing high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Experience processing and managing large datasets.
• Strong data preprocessing skills (indexing, normalization, cleaning, transformation).
• Familiarity with NestJS, Redis, and message queues.

Responsibilities

• Build platform integrations with LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and other activations.
• Develop context systems surfacing precise information at the right moment.
• Design memory systems to retain and evolve user knowledge over time.
• Improve matching algorithms based on goals, context, and intent.
• Develop growth-focused features to drive adoption and retention.
• Own high-impact technical initiatives moving the platform forward.

Boardy is seeking an AI Software Engineer to join our small but mighty engineering team. Our stack is modern (TypeScript, Python, cutting-edge LLMs), our problems are novel (think autonomous AI agents, not CRUD apps), and we're tackling challenges most companies won't see for years. What You'll Be Doing:

• Building platform integrations that allow Boardy to operate where users already are (e.g., LinkedIn, WhatsApp, phone interactions)
• Engineering context systems that surface precise, relevant information at the right moment
• Designing memory systems that enable Boardy to understand, retain, and evolve user knowledge over time
• Improving matching algorithms that intelligently connect people based on goals, context, and intent
• Developing growth-focused features that drive adoption, engagement, and retention
• Identifying and owning high-impact technical initiatives that move the platform forward

What We're Looking For:

Required Experience

• 1+ years of software engineering experience focused on machine learning systems (or relevant internships)
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python
• Experience integrating with third‑party APIs, tools, and external platforms
• Experience working with large language models, with fine‑tuning as a bonus
• Experience with vector databases and search technologies such as Qdrant, Pinecone, Weaviate, or Elasticsearch
• Experience designing high‑throughput, low‑latency systems
• Experience processing and managing large‑scale datasets (millions of records)
• Strong data preprocessing skills, including indexing, normalization, cleaning, and transformation
• Familiarity with backend technologies like NestJS, Redis, and message queues

Strongly Preferred

• Experience with SQL and ORMs; Prisma experience is a plus
• Hands‑on experience with an ML framework like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit‑learn
• Understanding of state machines and user state management
• Experience with database query optimization and performance monitoring
• Ability to analyze data and measure feature impact
• Working knowledge of MCP and integrating tools and data through it
