Job summary

CIFAR in Toronto is seeking a Program Manager, AI Safety to lead the CAISI research program, coordinating national initiatives and partnerships. The role requires 3–5 years in research administration, strong writing and project management, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced academic environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in a post-secondary institution, research agency, or similar environment.
• Experience in research grants administration.
• Professional experience in program management within the academic or philanthropic sectors.
• Strong project management skills and expertise.
• Well-developed writing and general communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and deliver a national AI Safety program.
• Provide program and administrative leadership to AI Safety initiatives and partnerships.
• Support CAISI Research Director(s) and CAISI Research Council.
• Manage calls for proposals, peer review, and award terms and conditions.
• Liaise with Canada’s AI Institutes to support collaborative projects.
• Organize and deliver AI Safety events, such as workshops and conferences.
• Work with CIFAR teams to deliver CAISI’s mandate.
