Job summary

Trend Micro is seeking an Applied AI Backend Software Developer to join TrendAI Vision One in a hybrid Ottawa role. You will design, develop, test, and support scalable backend services using cloud-native patterns and AI-assisted tooling, collaborating across teams.

Ideal candidates have 0–3 years of experience, a BS in CS or related field, and knowledge of Go/Java/JavaScript/Python. Exposure to AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD is valued.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more backend languages such as Go, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Proven experience using AI coding assistants to explore multiple implementation approaches and speed up SDLC.
• Cloud-native application development experience with AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, Docker.
• Experience writing automated tests and contributing to CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of internet security concepts and data flow is a plus.
• Growth mindset and ability to collaborate in a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• AI-Accelerated Development: use AI coding assistants to prototype and optimize backend services.
• Feature Delivery: design and implement scalable, secure backend services.
• Cloud-Native Engineering: develop cloud-native features using AWS/Azure and monitoring.
• System Integration: build services for APIs and high-volume data ingestion.
• Automated Testing & Quality: create tests and review AI-generated code for quality.
• Data Management: work with relational data stores and data lakes.
• Infrastructure & DevOps: write IaC, unit tests, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshooting: debug full-stack and complex networking issues.
• Continuous Learning: stay current with AI tools and tech.
• Operations: participate in on-call rotations.
