An established institution is seeking innovative Research Cyberinfrastructure Specialists to join a vibrant team dedicated to addressing complex challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration. This role offers the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research and support initiatives in AI and data science. Candidates will collaborate with a diverse group of experts and contribute to impactful projects while enjoying a supportive work environment that values diversity and inclusion. If you are passionate about data science and eager to make a difference, this position is perfect for you!
The Data Science Institute (DSI) is excited to be a part of the UW-Madison's Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Initiative, which is dedicated to addressing significant, complex challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration. RISE-AI will bring up to 50 new faculty and more than double campus investment in AI and related fields. RISE-EARTH and RISE-THRIVE are similar initiatives emphasizing sustainability and health. To support the RISE initiative, DSI aims to significantly expand our existing team of data scientists and research software engineers, with particular emphasis on AI engineering support, MLOps, and data engineering.
DSI is leading a vibrant, innovative, inclusive, and collaborative data science research community. As a member of our highly-valued team of data scientists, software engineers, AI engineers, and MLOps specialists, you will be key to our success. DSI staff partner with domain scientists across a wide range of topics and directly participate in research projects. In addition to supporting the research agendas of RISE faculty, our staff are encouraged to help facilitate collaborations and shape research projects in their early stages. Self-directed research is possible if mechanisms can be identified to support that work, and if it aligns with the mission and vision of DSI. In addition, our staff are expected to participate in the programmatic activities of the institute.
We aim to hire four new Research Cyberinfrastructure Specialists, which is a title that can accommodate different working job titles including AI Engineer and MLOps Specialist. We encourage applications from candidates with a wide range of professional and educational backgrounds for these positions, and we will choose titles and level depending on skill set and experience.
