Job summary

Kinaxis Inc. is seeking a coop/intern to join the AI Innovation team in Ottawa. You will work on evaluating and improving agentic AI systems within our assurance toolkit, under a senior architect's guidance. The role focuses on hands-on experimentation, tooling, and rigorous analysis.

You will collaborate with software engineers, contribute to evaluation infrastructure, and present findings. Open to current students or recent graduates, with a 8 or 12‑month duration starting January 2027.

Qualifications

• Completed 3rd year of, or recently graduated from, a program in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in software quality, reliability, security, or investigation-oriented engineering.
• Demonstrated interest in AI agents and their evaluation.
• Comfortable writing code in Python or a comparable language, and comfortable with Git and GitHub.
• Structured, curious, and skeptical in approach; able to ask questions and build solutions.
• Clear written communication.
• Comfortable with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Extend the harness, improving how evaluation runs are configured, executed, and reproduced, or building tooling for comparability across model, prompt, data, and version changes.
• Investigate meaningful evaluation results: scoring, aggregation, run-to-run variance, sample size, and confidence in improvements.
• Research agent evaluation tooling and prototype promising ideas.
• Investigate security and trustworthiness questions for AI agents, e.g., handling sensitive context and enforcing policies.
• Build observability or investigation tools to explain agent behavior, including trace analysis and regression detection.
• Work in a GitHub-native, agentic engineering workflow with AI-assisted development tools.
• Present findings to the team and contribute informed opinions.
