Job description

Dawson Co-op invites applications for the position ofAgro Managerto join our team at our Home & Agro Centre located in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

Reporting to the Home & Agro Centre Manager, the Agro Manager is responsible for the day-to-day and overall operations of the Agro Department, including management of products, merchandising, staff, and inventory.

Responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • To administer and be responsible for the day-to-day and overall operations of the Agro Department including sales, margins, expenses, inventory, staffing, merchandising, ordering, budget, and the sales per employee hour (“SPEH”)
  • Develop, maintain, monitor, improve and ensure compliance with operational policies, procedures, and processes
  • Ensure collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure operations can support sales strategy, projections, and targets, including customer pick-up and deliveries, product assortment, etc.
  • Oversight of Agro Department inventory and item management, including controls, cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and merchandise turns
  • Implement and maintain customer service and order fulfillment standards
  • Ensure all staff adhere to standards for merchandising, housekeeping, appearance, marketing efforts, operating procedures, and loss prevention
  • Remain knowledgeable in all lines of merchandise in the Agro Department and to constantly maintain a high level of product knowledge
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels, product assortment, item management, and pricing within the Agro Department
  • Oversee and maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers
  • Oversee all aspects of the bulk feed program, including maintenance, development, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement
  • Ensure an exceptional level of service is provided and that service standards are consistently met by all department staff
  • Develop and maintain loss prevention protocols
  • Ensure proper management of assets and adherence to a maintenance schedule
  • Ensure adherence to the “Image Checklist” for facilities and equipment
  • Give input for the annual budget and ensure claims, invoices and all other paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner, while following all procedure requirements
  • Oversee ongoing performance management, training, development, and coaching for all department staff
  • Adhere to and enforce all Dawson Co-operative Union policies and procedures
  • Plan for self development and take initiative to improve own knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in relevant field, such as business administration, veterinary medicine, or agriculture.
  • Experience utilizing inventory management software and systems
  • 3-5 years of experience in the Agriculture industry with knowledge in ranching, farming, and animal production.
  • 2-3 years retail experience at a management level
  • Previous leadership experience and demonstrated skills leading, training, and developing a team
  • Hold a valid Veterinary Drug Dispenser License for the Province of British Columbia, or be willing to obtain one
  • Valid Class Five drivers licence with a clean abstract
  • Strong ability to manage relationship at all levels

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Annual salary between $57,905 and $86,860, based on qualifications and experience
