Job description

Baird ISD is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Agricultural Science Teacher with a strong background in animal science to lead and grow our Agricultural Education program. This is an exciting opportunity to build a high-quality program around a brand-new ag barn and a supportive community of students, families, and stakeholders.

Position Type:

  • Full-Time 12 month contract
  • Possible Extended Days
  • Travel Required for Shows and Competitions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach agricultural science courses with an emphasis in animal science
  • Develop and manage student livestock projects (SAEs)
  • Utilize a brand-new ag barn facility to build an outstanding animal program
  • Prepare students for and lead participation in LDE, CDE, and stock shows at the local, regional, and state levels
  • Maintain accurate records for FFA and SAE programs
  • Collaborate with FFA leadership to foster student leadership and community involvement
  • Work closely with administration and community to promote the growth and success of the ag program

Qualifications:

  • Valid Texas Teaching Certification in Agricultural Science
  • Strong background in animal science and student project supervision
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Experience in livestock shows, CDEs, LDEs, and record keeping (AET) preferred
  • CDL (or willingness to obtain) preferred
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel with students to events and competitions
