Job Summary

What’s your favourite agile approach? Scrum, Kanban, Lean or something else?

This is not a traditional project management role, we’re looking for passionate Agile Delivery Managers, who have experience of delivering software in an agile environment, to lead and enable a multidisciplinary team through multiple phases.

Our multidisciplinary teams and our delivery managers work on stuff that impacts some of the most vulnerable people in society and we’re looking for people who are as motivated by that unique purpose as we are!

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on Data Enablement who are a key part of DWP’s Digital modernisation programme. This area owns data enabling products and is responsible for the transformation to bring Data & Analytics managed data through new products. You will be working as part of the Strategic Modern Analytical Tooling programme, responsible for migrating and transforming the core analytical tools used by Data & Analytics, to modernise their SAS 9.4 analytical platform to SAS Viya.

The key areas you will be responsible for working with, are the Centric and Utilities teams who utilise data to create data driven results for multiple uses and delivers government policy initiatives to improve citizens lives. The migration work is crucial to the department, to ensure delivery of the datasets to OGD’s and outside organisations that are depending on DWP data.

You will be working with Teams that are on the forefront of Data Transformation and as such, requires an experienced, self-motivated, and confident Agile Delivery Manager to deliver end to end projects including owning service delivery for a significant function or product. You will work closely with cross functional product teams to build a delivery roadmap. These teams are located at Peel Park, Blackpool Digital Hub, so it would be very beneficial to be located within the North West region, to allow hybrid working with the teams.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

Salary Information

New entrants to the Civil Service will join on band minimum.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Stage 1: Application

  • Personal statement - up to 500 words. This statement should be used to provide examples of how you meet the essential criteria listed in the Person specification.

The sift panel will use the information in your employment history and personal statement to assess your experience, skills and knowledge against the essential criteria.

You will be provided with one combined overall assessment score for both your CV and Personal Statement.
