Agile Coach

Description

Location: Halifax, NS (Permanent remote work accepted from anywhere in Canada; however, we’d prefer EST and CST based resources)

The perfect candidate we are seeking teaches, facilitates, collaborates, and mentors teams on all things Agile, helping to bring best practices into the organization. The individual contributor will coordinate and coach teams within the SAFe framework, including agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, and lean portfolio management.

Provides knowledge and expertise around Lean Agile processes while coaching key roles in the organization to be self-sufficient in day-to-day operations and practices, and also coaches for enterprise-wide agile initiatives.

Agile: Leads large-scale Agile transformations and complex Agile delivery. Partners with key stakeholders and senior leadership to construct the foundation necessary for transforming from waterfall or partial Scrum frameworks to a Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise. Collaborates closely with Portfolio Leads, Product Management, Product Owners, Release Train Engineers, and Scrum Masters to establish lean agile routines and practices, including Kanban management, Scaled Agile Value Stream Mapping, Program Increment planning and execution, as well as insights into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment, DevOps, and automation.

Relationship and People Management: Helps teams work efficiently to achieve common goals. Demonstrates appreciation of Agile practices and principles, helping teams understand and adopt them. Trains leaders and teams at all levels to set Agile strategies and articulate the benefits of Agile. Creates a work environment focused on continuous improvement, collaboration, and stakeholder alignment. Transfers knowledge and encourages team members to try new approaches and techniques.

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership with a passion for teaching and mentoring, with Agile coaching experience.
  • Experience coaching and training within the Agile framework (portfolio, program, and team levels).
  • Belief in and promotion of a culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust.
  • Facilitation, training, and public speaking experience.
  • Proficiency in core Agile practices: Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, Backlog Prioritization, Release Planning, Iteration/Sprint Planning, Metrics, and Agile ceremonies within a scaled framework.
  • Deep knowledge of product lifecycle processes and deliverables.
  • Extensive knowledge of SAFe, Lean, and Product Development Flow principles.
  • SAFe SPC certification and experience leading Agile transformation.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and practical experience.
  • Experience with large-scale software delivery and Agile transformation in enterprise organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills with empathy and clarity.
  • Working knowledge of Application Lifecycle and Agile Management tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PROSCI change management certification and experience.
