It all began on the corner of Granville and 28th where seven fearless women welcomed 17 students to the very first York House School in 1932. Nearly a century later, thousands of students have found their unique path and purpose at YHS. Our School has since grown into one of Canada’s leading independent schools for girls. About This Role

The After School Program Coordinator oversees all aspects of the after school programming for the Little School and Junior School, including managing daily operations, supervising staff, sourcing and coordinating external vendors, allocating space, and communicating with parents. This role is essential to ensuring that programming is aligned with the school’s mission and provides a safe, enriching experience for students.

The ideal candidate will be collaborative, organized, caring, and capable of balancing both instructional support and program leadership. They will also work directly with children in the program, helping to foster a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Management

Oversee the daily operations of the After School Program in the Little School and Junior School

Develop and maintain schedules for all activities

Ensure all programs align with the school’s mission and values

  • Staff Coordination

Coordinate After School Program staff

  • Vendor Sourcing and Oversight

Identify, vet, and contract external vendors to provide specialized activities

Negotiate agreements and set expectations for quality and safety standards in coordination with school leadership

  • Space Allocation

Plan and manage the allocation of school spaces for various programs

Coordinate with school leadership to ensure minimal disruption to regular activities

  • Parent Communication and Feedback

Act as the primary point of contact for parents regarding after school programming Address questions, collect feedback, and incorporate suggestions for improvement

  • Student Engagement

Work directly with children participating in the program, supporting their needs and contributing to a positive experience

  • Daytime Responsibilities

As required, support school activities and initiatives

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Collaborative, flexible, and team-oriented
  • Knowledgeable about current research on girls’ learning
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time-management, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated collegiality and a supportive approach
  • Caring and able to provide mature guidance to children
  • Relevant experience working with school-aged children
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Must be 19 years of age or older
