Job description

The After Hours Manager / Administrator is the most senior clinical manager on site, responsible for addressing issues in consultation with the Senior Leader on-call. Responsibilities include overseeing all clinical areas, coordinating patient flow, supporting staff, patients, visitors, and managing nursing staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Facilitates patient flow by understanding and acting on corporate priorities, including minimizing emergency department wait times and managing overflow beds.
  2. Coordinates patient transfers to other healthcare facilities locally, in Ontario, Canada, or the United States.
  3. Supports admission, discharge, and transfer processes in collaboration with hospital services and nursing staff.
  4. Identifies barriers to inpatient bed availability and proposes solutions.
  5. Optimizes nursing staff utilization by understanding staffing ratios, patient acuity, and collective agreements.
  6. Provides leadership and communication within nursing teams, including performance feedback and opportunities for improvement.
  7. Ensures a safe work environment by supervising safety protocols, investigating incidents, and inspecting work areas.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  1. Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  2. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.
  3. 3-5 years healthcare managerial or equivalent experience preferred.
  4. Minimum 5 years relevant clinical experience.
  5. French language skills are an asset.
