Job summary

Bishop Strachan School in Toronto is seeking an After Care Teacher for a part-time role, commencing September 9, 2026 through June 2027. The position runs 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with a wage of $20.00–$25.00 per hour. Join a long‑standing school that fosters girls’ leadership and confidence.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in ECE, CYW, Child Studies, Education or another related field.
  • Experience working with students 4 to 12 years of age in a school, camp or childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of effective programs, sports and games that engage girls.
  • Current First Aid/CPR preferred or willing to obtain.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other After Care Teachers to plan and organize the daily After Care Program.
  • Assist in planning activities and homework support for older students.
  • Prepare engaging and educational materials for student activities.
  • Create outdoor activities balancing free play and structured games.
  • Supervise students on playground and indoors in all weather.
  • Liaise with teachers and parents to meet student needs.
  • Communicate with parents daily at pick-up time.
  • Administer and supervise daily snacks in health and safety compliant manner.
  • Track attendance of students.

Skills

ECE/CYW/Child Studies degree

What You'll Do:
  • Works collaboratively with the other After Care Teachers to organize and plan the daily After Care Program
  • Supports in planning activities for the students may include homework completion of the older students
  • Prepares materials for student activities that are engaging and educational
  • Creates outdoor activities that include a balance of free play and structured games
  • Supervises students on playground and indoors in all weather conditions
  • Liaises with other teachers and parents when required to ensure the needs of students are met
  • Communicates with parents on a daily basis during pick-up time
  • Administers and supervises daily snack with the students and adheres to health and safety protocols (i.e. student food allergies)
  • Tracks attendance of students
Who You Are:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in ECE, CYW, Child Studies, Education or another related field
  • Experience working with students 4 to 12 years of age in a school, camp or childcare setting
  • Knowledge of effective programs, sports and games that enhance the learning of girls
  • Current in First Aid/CPR preferred or willing to obtain
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
