Overview
As a member of the military, Aerospace Engineering Officers are responsible for all aspects of the engineering, maintenance, and management of military aircraft, support equipment, and facilities during military operations.

Work environment
Work varies depending on employment type and environment. Initially, officers are employed at a flying unit in roles such as Aircraft Servicing, Repair, Avionics Support, or Engineering Support. Post-training, assignments are made to bases with possible relocations. Reserve members work part-time at a local unit, with options for full-time employment and deployment.
Entry plans
Options include direct entry and paid education programs. If you hold a relevant degree, the CAF may place you directly into on-the-job training following basic training. The Regular Officer Training Plan involves studying at the Royal Military College, with full pay and benefits, in exchange for service commitments. Applicants must also complete basic and officer training.
Training
Training includes basic officer training in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, followed by language training if needed, and specialized aeronautical courses at the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering in Borden, Ontario. Opportunities exist for further specialization and graduate training.
Part-time options
Available for Reserve members serving part-time at Canadian bases, with opportunities for deployment and full-time service during short durations. Reserve members earn approximately 92.8% of Regular Force pay and benefits.
