Job description

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is excited to announce the addition of a group of highly experienced aerospace professionals to our organization! Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2) and Avionics Design Services (ADS) joined De Havilland in October 2023, creating additional capacity and expanding our expertise in both avionics design services and upgrades as well as maintenance and modifications.

In October 2023, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada announced the acquisition of Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2). MC2 is comprised of industry-leading experts focused on ensuring commercial, charter, special mission, and business aircraft operators are equipped with flight decks that provide safety and efficiency. As a premier Canadian aviation maintenance shop, the team works to define avionics requirements and develop and certify solutions tailored to each operator’s needs.

Profile

We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Aeronautical Structures Designer / Liaison to join our team in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. This role supports the structural design and efficient integration of systems on aircraft within the scope of new MC2 / ADS programs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design structural modifications in 3D, including new equipment and antenna installations using SolidWorks.
  2. Create Model-Based Definitions and detailed drawings of structural components.
  3. Ensure compliance with relevant specifications and aviation regulations (CAR, FAR, CS).
  4. Review existing designs and utilize data to improve or optimize them.
  5. Conduct on-site aircraft surveys to identify effective modification strategies.
  6. Review internal drawings for technical accuracy.
  7. Optimize competing design criteria.
  8. Collaborate effectively with production technicians and cross-functional teams.
  9. Clearly communicate design decisions and provide rationale when needed.
  10. Seek input and guidance from senior engineering staff proactively.
  11. Contribute as a member of the design team and broader Engineering department.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in aerospace structural design, preferably in aftermarket modifications.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design practices.
  • Experience with aircraft structures and systems architecture is an asset.
  • Ability to travel if required.
Skills
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Creative thinking and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
