Marine Atlantic is seeking Chief Engineers for onboard vessels operating year-round and seasonally. These are permanent, full-time, spare, and relief positions scheduled based on operational needs. Responsibilities

The Chief Engineer is a key leadership role responsible for all maintenance activities onboard, leading the engine room department, and ensuring safe and efficient vessel operations. The role includes managing engine room staff, electrical division, safety culture, and environmental programs.

Qualifications
  • Valid First Class Motor Certificate STCW 95
  • 24 months recent relevant experience
  • Leadership and team development experience
  • Management skills in supply chain, budgeting, HR
  • Knowledge of CMMS, ISM, IACS
  • Organizational, communication skills
  • Marine STCW 6.1 and 6.2, Marine Medical Certificate
  • Confined space training and experience
Preferred Assets
  • Graduate of a recognized marine school
  • Experience with machinery configurations
  • Marine Advanced First Aid
  • Passenger Safety Management
