A leading organization in Indigenous community health is seeking a full-time Advisory Council & Event Coordinator to support governance and cultural initiatives. This position involves coordinating council activities, event planning, and fostering community engagement while upholding Treaty One values. POSITION TYPE FULL-TIMEPURPOSEThe Advisory Council & Event Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and administrative support of the Treaty One Promise Keepers Council (PKC), the Treaty One Knowledge Keepers Council (KKC), The Lands Technical Advisory Council (LTAC), as well as the planning and coordination of events and gatherings related to the work of the councils and other Treaty One Nation initiatives. This role ensures consistent communication, scheduling, record-keeping, event logistics, and follow-through on recommendations and actions arising from the councils. The coordinator plays a key role in supporting the engagement of youth and Elders/Knowledge Keepers in Treaty One Nation rebuilding efforts, governance renewal, cultural preservation initiatives, and community engagement.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Council Coordination & Facilitation function involves organizing and facilitating regular meetings for the PKC, KKC, and LTAC, including bi-weekly and monthly sessions. The coordinator prepares and distributes meeting agendas, minutes, briefing materials, and background documents in advance. They ensure quorum and accurate attendance tracking, support consensus-based decision making, and foster culturally respectful dialogue during meetings. The role also involves liaising with council members to confirm appointments, terms, and ongoing participation.Under Administrative Support, the coordinator maintains accurate records of council recommendations, decisions, and attendance, and drafts formal recommendations and correspondence from the councils to the Governing Council as needed. Responsibilities also include organizing travel, honoraria payments, and logistical arrangements for council members, as well as developing and maintaining filing systems and digital archives for council documentation.The Event Planning & Coordination responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and executing events tied to council activities, Treaty One Nations programs, cultural gatherings, and broader community engagement initiatives. The coordinator manages all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, catering, audiovisual setup, transportation, accommodations, supplies, and on-site management. They also prepare and manage event budgets, timelines, and work plans; collaborate with internal staff, vendors, and community partners; and oversee post-event evaluation and reporting.In terms of Engagement & Communication, the coordinator serves as a central point of contact for council members, ensuring the timely communication of updates and initiatives. They support youth council members in engaging with their respective communities both on- and off-reserve and coordinate outreach activities to gather input from youth and Elders into Treaty One Nation rebuilding and governance planning. Additionally, the coordinator promotes council activities and events through appropriate communication channels, working in collaboration with Treaty One communications staff.Finally, the role upholds Cultural Integrity & Relationship Building by ensuring all activities reflect the cultural protocols, teachings, and values of the Seven Sacred Teachings and Treaty One principles. The coordinator builds and maintains respectful and trusting relationships with council members, leadership, and staff, and ensures that all processes and activities are inclusive, culturally appropriate, and aligned with Treaty One values.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
