About The Team

Sitting within the Chief Investment Office (CIO) group of one of the largest pension funds in Canada, the Dynamic Asset Allocation and Currency Management (DAACM) team leads the dynamic asset allocation and currency management of PSP’s overall portfolio (the Total Fund). The team manages rebalancing activities across asset classes and currencies to ensure that the Total Fund exposure aligns with desired targets.

About Your Role

As an Advisor / Senior Advisor in the DAACM team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our investment strategies across both public and private asset markets. Your economic expertise will guide key asset allocation and currency management decisions, ensuring our investment strategy aligns with desired targets and economic and financial trends and forecasts.

Your main responsibilities include :

  • Establishing economic and financial scenarios used as inputs in our Capital Market Assumptions (CMAs) and stress tests.
  • Developing and improving in-house analytical tools and econometric models for analyzing economic conditions and financial markets.
  • Contributing to the economic research agenda, including assessing economic conditions of various countries/regions, sectors, and global markets.
  • Collaborating with other CIO teams and supporting strategic and dynamic asset allocation, as well as currency hedging decisions.
  • Responding to requests from the CIO, Board of Directors, and Senior Management, and providing macroeconomic support to investment teams.
  • Staying informed on best practices in economic and econometric analysis and conducting quality research to identify return-enhancing opportunities.

What You’ll Need

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in economic and econometric analysis within the investment or policy sectors.
  • Strong understanding of global macroeconomic trends and their impact on financial markets.
  • Proficiency in quantitative analysis, econometric modeling, estimation, and forecasting.
  • Ability to communicate complex economic concepts clearly to non-specialists.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing investment conditions and organizational needs.
  • Proficiency with econometric packages (Eviews, Python, R, etc.), Microsoft Office, and financial databases (Bloomberg, Haver, Datastream, etc.).
  • Bilingual in English and French, with regular interactions in both languages across various offices.
