Temporary position for 12 months

Required

As a legal affairs advisor, you help protect the organization’s legal interests by ensuring it complies with all laws. You also play a key role in making sure that its rights are protected and obligations are met. You represent the organization in situations involving its legal interests. You may be responsible for one or more sub-specialties, such as contested matters and the Office of the Corporate Secretary (ethics and professional conduct, official registries, meeting minutes, the general meeting, etc.). You advise and assist clients and partners as part of intervention and development initiatives. You recommend solutions to improve or optimize standards, policies and programs. Your projects and initiatives require extensive knowledge of your line of work. You prepare recommendations, solutions and action plans based on the organization’s objectives and priorities. You help solve complex problems using your analytical skills and extensive knowledge of the line of business. Coordination is critical, so you frequently interact with stakeholders working in other fields. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential. More specifically, you will be required to :

  • Advise and support the organization’s units and decision-making bodies on the handling and execution of initiatives and activities related to your line of work
  • Analyze data, conduct studies, make recommendations and write reports. Issue legal opinions and recommendations
  • Organize, coordinate and attend meetings, including meetings of decision-making bodies and the board of directors
  • Provide legal oversight
  • Diagnose issues, challenges and needs to determine target outcomes
  • Monitor the industry to understand and anticipate trends in your line of work and make recommendations to develop best practices for the organization
  • Serve as resource person for your unit, clients and partners

What You Bring To The Table

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Intermediate advanced proficiency of English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
