WestJet Group is seeking an Advisor, Ground Operations Standards to develop and communicate standards, guidelines and procedures that empower frontline teams to deliver a safe and remarkable customer experience. The role partners with Safety, Training and Operations to publish advisories, support change management, and ensure alignment with IATA/ICAO and Canadian regulations.

Strong communication and remote collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of ground operations operational and training experience.
  • Familiar with domestic, transborder, and international airports.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (IATA, ICAO).
  • Experience publishing corporate communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and publish standards, guidelines and procedures for frontline teams.
  • Create advisories, webinars, and communications for stakeholders.
  • Support change management for ground ops initiatives addressing risk.
  • Assist training teams in designing programs for compliance and safety.
  • Maintain Ground & Winter Operations Sharepoint with up-to-date docs.
  • Analyze program alignment with IATA/ICAO and Canadian regs.

Advisor, Ground Operations Standards
Role Overview

The Advisor, Ground Operations Standards, will develop and communicate standards, guidelines and procedures that enable frontline teams to create a safe and remarkable experience.

Key Deliverables
  • Support Development of informative communications elements on behalf of Ground operations standards.
  • Create and publish clear and informative communications in the form of advisories, webinars, or other delivery channels that inform WestJet leaders and contracted service partners of changes to WestJet’s ground operations standards or programs.
  • Participate and support change management process for ground operations related change activities that address safety, operational, and financial risk with related stakeholder engagement.
  • Support Operational Training teams in ensuring the design and development of ground ops training programs that support standards compliance and safety, cost, & operational goals. Create and provide content, expertise, & support.
  • Maintain the Ground & Winter Operations Sharepoint site ensuring up to date and relevant content and ensure WestJet and contracted service partner reps have access to required ground operations documentation, information, tools, and manuals.
  • Regularly conduct analysis on WestJet's Ground Operations Program vs. IATA standards and recommended practices as well as Canadian and foreign regulations to identify opportunities and ensure ongoing alignment.
  • Act in an advisory capacity for ground operations standards assisting other internal and external stakeholders as required.
Experience and qualifications
  • 3-6 years of ground operations operational and Training experience.
  • Understanding of domestic,transborder, and international airport operations is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of ground operations processes and standards.
  • General knowledge of industry standards related to ground operations such as IATA, ICAO, ETC.
  • Experience supporting airports/airline initiatives involving global/network impacts.
  • Experience in creation and publication of corporate communications.
  • Experience in delivering virtual presentations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with teams across the network while working remotely.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and deliverables during the same time.
  • Advanced skill level with Microsoft Office Suite (Power Point, Word, Outlook, Sharepoint, and Excel).
  • Post-secondary education is considered an asset.
  • Experience with audit tools, such as Safetyculture, is an asset.
  • Experience in project and change management is an asset.
  • Understanding of risk assessments is an asset.
