Job Description

The Advisor, Equity Talent Acquisition (Indigenous Peoples), leads the implementation of strategies, initiatives, and programs to recruit, select, retain, and develop Indigenous employees, ensuring employment equity targets are met. The role involves building relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations, leveraging networks to develop a pipeline of Indigenous talent, and providing guidance on talent management processes.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Implement and execute Indigenous recruitment and development strategies to meet employment targets.
  2. Advocate for Indigenous employment equity at the national level, influencing stakeholders and providing expert guidance.
  3. Build and maintain partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations based on trust and respect.
  4. Lead equity census campaigns, monitor outcomes, and recommend improvements.
  5. Design and implement measures to address employment barriers for Indigenous peoples.
  6. Participate in outreach activities to develop a pipeline of Indigenous candidates.
  7. Collaborate with Talent Management and Talent Acquisition teams to support organizational needs and retain Indigenous employees.
  8. Act as the Employee Resource Group recruitment lead for Indigenous strategies.
  9. Deliver Indigenous cultural competency training and provide communication advice related to Indigenous relations.
Qualifications

Education: Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.

Experience: 3-5 years in Indigenous recruitment and retention; experience in a unionized environment is an asset; working with Indigenous communities and organizations.

Other Requirements: Experience developing employment policies; lived experience or residence in an Indigenous community preferred; understanding of Indigenous culture and issues; knowledge of relevant legislation; proficient with Microsoft Office; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
