WestJet Is hiring a Bilingual Employee Health Advisor. This person plays a critical role in managing and supporting disability cases and workplace accommodations. You will be key to promoting a healthy work environment, facilitating successful rehabilitation, and ensuring employees' smooth reintegration into the workplace following health-related absences.
Key Deliverables:
- Disability Claims Management: Oversee the management of OCC (WCB), Non-OCC (STD/LTD), and medical leave files, including requests for accommodation. Confirm medical work restrictions and ensure safe and effective return-to-work plans for employees.
- Return to Work Activities: Develop and implement return-to-work plans by confirming medical work restrictions and identifying appropriate modified duties. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure successful reintegration of employees into their roles.
- Consulting and Providing Expert Advice: Offer guidance on disability management practices and legislation. Provide training and education to management and employees on disability management standards and procedures.
- Coordination with External Parties: Liaise between employees, healthcare professionals, benefits providers, and associations/unions to support employees throughout the disability management process.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Maintain and update the disability management practices manual to reflect current company policy, legislation, and professional ethics.

Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a social science/health-related field or equivalent experience.
- Professional designation such as RRP, CRTWC, CDMP, or related is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of related professional experience in Disability Management, including return to work planning and rehabilitation practices.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (Human Rights, Workers' Compensation Act, Privacy Legislation).
- Strong understanding of disability case management and employee rehabilitation processes.
- Excellent communication, problem solving skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- The ability to interpret and apply corporate policies, STD/LTD contracts, and collective agreements.
- Proficiency in Disability Management suites/software (i.e. Cority, etc.)
- Knowledge of medical conditions, treatments, disability duration guidelines and medical terminology.
- Bilingual in both French and English (proficiency in both written and verbal) required.
- This role may require occasional evening and weekend work.
