Position Summary

The Advisor, Development & Engagement is an exciting opportunity to join the Talent & Learning Centre of Excellence within UHN’s People & Culture (P&C) department. Working closely with P&C team members and organizational leaders, the Advisor, Development & Engagement will play a pivotal role in supporting and advancing UHN’s leadership development and employee engagement/listening programs (e.g., engagement survey, exit survey, new hire survey, etc.). Reporting to the Manager, Leadership Development, the Advisor will collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization to design, implement and evaluate programs that foster a high-performance, inclusive and values-driven culture.

The Advisor, Development & Engagement will apply a balanced approach to their work, combining systems thinking and data with a human centric view. A key part of this role will be supporting the design, delivery, and evaluation of leadership development, and evolving UHN’s approach to employee listening and engagement to enhance UHN’s ability to generate actionable employee insights. A priority area of focus includes launching a UHN-wide employee engagement survey and action planning process in 2025.

You bring well-developed communication, critical thinking, and project management skills, along with a passion for continuous improvement and inclusive, people-centered development.

Duties

  • With direction from the Manager, create and execute the enterprise employee listening strategy
  • Identify employee engagement tactics that align with business priorities and contribute to UHN’s development and retention goals; support implementation by collaborating with key stakeholders
  • Act as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners for making business decisions and implementing strategic initiatives related to insights generated from listening activities
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of leadership development programs and processes to maximize adoption and impact, including providing tools and support to People and Culture stakeholders
  • Create and maintain high-quality materials such as presentations, learning modules, handouts, facilitator and participant guides, toolkits and resources
  • Plan, manage and coordinate the communications, logistics and execution of organization-wide leadership and engagement initiatives, ensuring a seamless experience for participants and stakeholders
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables are met on-time, within budget, and to established quality standards
  • Track, analyze and report on programs and initiatives, using data to assess effectiveness and inform continuous improvement efforts; prepare reports and coordinate regular reports that highlight the impact of initiatives to guide strategic planning and decision-making
  • Stay current with research, trends, and emerging practices in organizational development, leadership, and engagement to ensure UHN’s programs incorporate best and emerging practices
  • Develop and monitor metrics to evaluate program effectiveness, and recommend enhancements or alternative strategies based on findings


Qualifications

  • A university or college degree/diploma in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, or a related field, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Coursework or certifications in Change Management, Adult Education, Conflict Management and/or Coaching would be an asset
  • A solid foundation of knowledge of, and experience in, leadership development, employee engagement, organization development, and culture change best practices
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a field related to development, employee engagement, human resources, ideally within a medium to large organization
  • A high performer, adept at building productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across the organization
  • Comfortable facilitating learning sessions and group discussions; you have strong communication skills
  • Able to work independently, be innovative, strategically aligned and self-confident
  • Resourceful, action-oriented and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities, work independently, and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Experience working within healthcare and/or a unionized environment would be an asset
