Our Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground mine in beautiful northern British Columbia, is located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. For creative downtime, our music room is a fully equipped space where you can play or listen to music. Our Brucejack Recreation Committee, run by employees on a volunteer basis, organizes activities and events to make camp life fun and bring people together. The committee also plans holiday decorations, charity raffles, and outdoor events, helping create a warm and friendly community.

Your Impact

The Community Relations Advisor will help build and maintain trusted relationships with local communities, ensuring their voices are heard and integrated into our work. Your role supports meaningful dialogue, successful engagement programs, and socially responsible initiatives that align with our values.

As Part Of Our Team You Will

  • Support relationships with Indigenous and local communities
  • Plan and deliver community engagement activities and events
  • Facilitate dialogue and feedback forums
  • Coordinate local outreach and social investment projects
  • Drive Youth development initiatives and educational opportunities
  • Help resolve community-related concerns or issues
  • Ensure compliance with CSR policies and support sustainability goals

Prerequisites For Your Success In This Role

  • 3–5 years of experience in community engagement, event coordination, or social performance
  • Previous experience mentoring or engaging with youth in a structured or professional capacity (e.g., education, community programs, support services, or similar environments) is essential.
  • Knowledge of Northwestern BC communities, especially Tahltan, Nisga’a, and Gitxsan
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and spoken) skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects at a time and manage critical stakeholder relationships
  • Culturally aware, collaborative, and committed to community well-being
  • Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license (Driver's abstract may be requested) and reliable method of transportation to get to the Smithers office

Your Work Environment

  • Day to day work from Newmont office in Smithers. Area of work encompasses the Brucejack local study area (e.g., Terrace, Smithers, Hazelton)
  • Regular travel to surrounding communities is required. Imcumbent must be able to drive to different locations from the Smithers office (Company car is available for use)

The expected salary range for this role is CA$83,385 - $105,621/yr. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
