Please note: This is a hybrid work position in Calgary Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at the WestJet Campus (22 Aerial Place NE) 3 days per week. This provides flexibility the remaining 40% of the work week. This hybrid work plan allows for critically important learning, collaboration and networking with our colleagues. Overview of role:

We are seeking a creative and dynamic Advisor Cargo & Sales Communications and Marketing to join our Cargo & Sales Marketing, Communications, Events, Training team. Playing a key role, you’ll bring your strategic and creative communication & marketing skills along with a results-orientated approach to support our Cargo & Sales targets. You will develop innovative campaigns as well as support activities and events that create awareness, invoke partner engagement and drive sales.

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing, Communications, Training and Events this Advisor role is accountable for the development and execution of both internal and external communication & marketing initiatives to stakeholders and target audiences. You will work closely with the Cargo & Sales teams along with internal/external partners to develop integrated, multi-channel communication & marketing plans, all while building and maintaining positive relationships with your partners and stakeholders.

The role will support the delivery and communication of WestJet’s strategic plan and corporate initiatives.

Key deliverables:

  • Create, develop and implement internal and external communication & marketing plans and assets to support projects, revenue targets, amendments, and new initiatives.
  • Act as trusted advisor to stakeholders at all levels and provide guidance on communications & marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with the other Cargo & Sales Communications & Marketing Advisors to develop full scale marketing and communications campaigns to support WestJet initiatives
  • Act as project manager and work collaboratively with cross-functional internal teams for department & WestJet initiatives as required.
  • Compose content for all Cargo & Sales media editorial requests.
  • Work with the Corporate Communications team to write all Cargo & Sales press releases.
  • Author and provide final approvals, including proofing, copywriting and editing of all Cargo & Sales communications.
  • Measure, consolidate reporting and communicate on the success of each marketing initiative against documented objectives, campaign KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), etc.
  • Create on-demand materials such as flat sheets, digital banners, cargo & sales collateral, invitations/save the dates, swag, pop up banners, creating and maintaining master Cargo Sales presentation materials etc.
  • Develop and implement a LinkedIn strategy including planning & scheduling posts, content writing, creating visuals
  • Evaluate the continued need for a paid media strategy and if required, design and place ads in relevant publications
  • Proactively co-ordinate and liaise with the Team Lead to ensure timelines are being managed, updates are provided, and proper approvals are obtained.
  • Proactively participate in the improvement and troubleshooting of processes as they pertain to the team’s involvement.
  • Share learnings and provide support/training for team members. Help to provide an environment where you, your team members and your stakeholders can learn continuously.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Communications, Marketing, Travel, or a related discipline.
  • Exceptional skills in marketing fundamentals including trade marketing, market segmentation, brand management, data analysis and web analytics.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in a strategic marketing or communications role in a corporate environment.
  • Strong organization and time management skills; proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, rapidly changing priorities in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong skill set in critical thinking, time management and risk assessment is an asset
  • Strong relationship building skills with experience working with various stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • Excellent writing skills with a demonstrated ability to write quickly, succinctly and adapt to varied audiences
  • Cargo & Travel trade industry experience is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite and Canva are required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the capability of establishing respect and credibility through actions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an elevated level of accuracy. Proactive, energetic personality; inquiring, investigative mind.
