Job Opening: Advanced Practice Provider in Emergency Department

WVU Medicine is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider for Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV. Join a team managing approximately 40,000 visits annually in a community emergency setting, supported by the tertiary and academic WVU Health System. About Princeton Community Hospital

PCH is a 203-bed accredited acute care facility serving a 10-county region, equipped with advanced medical technologies and minimally invasive procedures. It also offers behavioral health services at The Behavioral Healthcare Pavilion of the Virginias, a 64-bed psychiatric hospital. Located in Mercer County, WV, Princeton offers a vibrant community with rich culture, history, and natural beauty.

Minimum Qualifications for Nurse Practitioners
  • Graduate of a CCNE-accredited nursing program with a Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • National Certification by recognized APRN Certification Centers.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse and APRN in West Virginia.
  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACNP or FNP considered.
  • PALS certification encouraged.
Minimum Qualifications for Physician Assistant
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an ARC-PA approved program.
  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure by WV Board of Medicine or WV Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications.
Position Summary

The APP manages emergency medicine patients, coordinating care, performing procedures, and participating in education. Responsibilities include developing care plans, coordinating discharge, and collaborating with medical teams. The role requires critical thinking, safety, and adherence to standards, along with educational and leadership duties.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage comprehensive care for emergency patients, including discharge planning.
  2. Perform evaluations, diagnostics, and communicate results.
  3. Coordinate with staff and develop individualized care plans.
  4. Identify unstable patients and initiate emergency interventions.
  5. Participate in research, quality improvement, and educational activities.
  6. Document thoroughly and collaborate across disciplines.
  7. Lead and participate in committees and projects.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting over 40 pounds.
  • Work involves biohazards, infectious diseases, and emergency scenarios.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency with computers and strong communication skills.
