Job description

OVERVIEW

The Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (APP) is a registered physiotherapist who has acquired advanced knowledge and skills in the field of Physiotherapy and possesses sound decision-making skills in complex situations and clinical competencies for expanded practice.

The APP delivers expert-level clinical practice within an interprofessional model of care. In collaboration with orthopaedic surgeons and other members of the team, the APP facilitates timely access to quality care and provides referral to appropriate treatment and specialist consultations for patients referred to MGH. The APP is a champion for best practice, and innovative care models and contributes to quality improvement initiatives to achieve safe, effective, efficient care. The initial focus is on Hip and Knee Arthritis with potential to expand to additional MSK patient populations.

EDUCATION

  • Master’s Degree (beyond entry level) or post professional formal education with competency evaluation.
  • Current registration with College of Physiotherapists of Ontario required.
  • Current BCLS certification preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in an advanced practice capacity.
  • Current knowledge and experience in the management of surgical patients.
  • Expert knowledge, complex decision-making skills and clinical competencies to form a foundation forexpanded practice.
  • Experience in program development and outcome evaluation.
  • Collaborative approach to teaching / learning.
  • Demonstrated professional leadership, innovation, team building.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with change.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated embodiment of TEHN core values.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft office).
  • Excellent attendance record required.
